Jan 21, 2019 Worst possible thing

sooo the worst possible thing has happened! last week we had 8 investigators at church its taken so much work to get this area to progress when i got here the average was 1-2 investigators a week well finally we had really picked up the area and then boom WHITEWASH me and my companion are both transfering!! imma be real i am not extremely happy about it! oh yeah and what makes it worse is i have been called as a.. ZL... i thought i was just gonna make it through my whole mission as just a DL but nope as always my plans are different than the man upstairs but im sure itll be fine the main thing that is a bummer about it is that because there is a white wash happening is that alot of our investigators are going to be forgotten or lost and straight up that idea like keeps me up at night but its ok i know that this is the Lords work and this is what he wants to have happen on the bright i am going back into the middle of the city (pasig) 😕 but on another note i was comparing the sermon on

Jan 13, 2019 Missionary Stuff

hey everyone things are going good over here in the Philippines! we had Elder Holland come over here and he gave and area wide stake conference which was super cool well something awesome that happened is at one point he starts talking about the history of the church and talks about the mircacle how within his lifetime the Philippines was dedicated for missionary work and now has more than 100 stakes (like 103 or something) 6 temples (either being built are now completed) and tons of members forgot how many and then he said "i mean i went to the wrong mission! i wish i had served here" which was just funny but also it made me so grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission here in the Philippines and made me so grateful that we have a living prophet who knew this was my mission and that it wasnt left up to me because i never wouldve thought of being sent here also just another cool thing that Elder Holland talked about was anyways how we could start the millennium in our o

Hey everyone Merry Christmas!   Things are going really well here just a few stories this week  English Investigator Yeah so we have an investigator currently who is half Filipino half American from California so I taught L1 and L2 last week for the first time in English and I'mma be real teaching in English is a whole different experience its like easier in some ways but harder in others like the cool thing about Tagalog is there isn't a ton of synonyms like there is for English for example there is angry, mad, livid, and like a billion others but in Tagalog there is just Galit which means all of those and if you want to make it like a stronger kind of mad you just say Galit na galit so its easier to express things sometimes but harder to explain things in nice simple ways like you can in Tagalog also one of the problems with English is that I'm only used to talking to other missionaries in English so I kept calling our investigator Elder haha (I prefer teaching in

Transfer

Hey everyone, things are going good here. I am loving my new area! Expect lots more pics because I'm back in province so I actually got cools things to look at not just dirty city and squatters! I'll send a longer email next week love you!

Long newsy email

Alrighty so just a few stories this week because my mom asked for them Foreigner Alrighty so the other day me and my companion met a lady from Sudan Africa so despite living here in the pines for the past 3 years she doesn't speak a lick of Tagalog so we had to speak to her in English and it was such a mess I kept speaking to her in Tagalog and having her like "Uhhh I dont speak Tagalog I told you that within like 2 seconds of you talking to me and me being like sorry" and trying to speak my poor excuse for English haha eventually it ended in my companion taking over and saving me and him just speaking to her after she asked if i was a Filipino (woman do I look like a Filipino?!)  and I was like "hin... I mean no I'm an American" and then she just roasts me and is like "So why don't you know how to speak English?"  Yeah got me there lady haha not sure if I can come home anymore Old Lady  So the other day was a really rough prob

All Good

Things are going good here just same old same old  Thanks for all the support make sure to feed your local missionaries!

Just chillin' on that binyag train

Yeah we had another baptism this week which went great!  Everything's  going really well I taught my first non christian investigator and oh boy that was a wild ride! but fun! really hard when I cant use my personal study to prove the truth just gotta testify and super rely on the spirit to testify for me it takes a lot of faith! never realized until now how useful scriptures are! (Don't worry I still used scriptures from the Book of Mormon but every time I did he'd be like "Ok that's cool that says that, thanks") basically ended with me giving him a copy of the Book of Mormon and telling him to try it out. Kinda interesting to listen to this guys beliefs and go all Ammon on him and connect what he believes and what is true but when he is agnostic and really just wants proof for everything so I gave him the Book of Mormon because that is our proof. Also cool story this week so the other day we went to our investigators and the first thing she says is &quo

Murphy's Law

Hey everyone its been a good week had some good stuff happen we had another baptism which was great but it was by far the hardest baptism I have ever had which is why my email has the title "Murphy's Law" because straight up everything and I mean everything that could have possibly gone wrong with this baptism went wrong.  Like one of the people we were going to baptized hit her head hard enough cutting it open and needing to go the emergency room and needing stitches which just "What...??"  Next our chapel did not have any water in the whole building... so me having to text every single person in our ward 2 hours before the baptism that we need to change location to a really far chapel. Here's the thing in the days that our ward didn't care about missionary work yeah sure no big deal I'll tell the two people coming, but I have been working on getting ward support for so long and now literally like the entire ward comes to our baptisms and brin

Good Stuff

so heres a few things that happened this week that is super cool!  Tatoo guy So here's a cool update with Tatoo guy we baptized his daughter on Saturday! and he came!!! also we just got back from eating lunch with him he's seriously soo cool! He's gonna be baptized its awesome! My trip to the ER So yeah we went to the ER yesterday it was really scary I thought I wasn't going to make it!  Ok so actually we went for my comp sorry thought it would be fun to give y'all a heart attack. (Real Fun, NOT-- Mom) Yeah he had a kidney stone haha it was no good I'll tell you guys about it when I get back because I'm outta time Jan 14,2018 Dear Adam, I thought it would be a great comfort to you to hear the amazing talk your father gave in church today on Trust in the Lord and how Trust in the Lord really only has meaning when it is hard and when you can’t see how it can all possibly end well. He shared several examples from the scriptures. He sta

Temple November 5, 2018

Hey, we went to the temple today so I'll be sending pictures in a minute but other than that just get ready for some pretty cool things to happen over the next 3 weeks Dec 11, 2017 Dear Adam, Thinking about your sweet letter today about going on Splits and your realization that Jesus Christ is always your companion. Thought about several scriptures that reminded me of your experience. First was 2 Nephi 4: 35 especially “I know that God will give liberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I ask not amiss” Love your testimony that he truly provided abundantly in your time of need. Loved Mormon 9:34 “none other people knoweth our language, therefore he hath prepared means for the interpretation thereof.” You may feel like your Tagalog is trash but I testify to you through the power of the Holy Ghost you can be used as a tool to speak with the Tongue of angels and speak to the understanding of those who will listen the words of Christ.  (2 Npehi
