Church (Karma) Sept 3, 2018

Ok so considering what happened the past couple days (Dad got in a major Bike accident and is in the hospital)

I thought I'd share something especially for my parents. So I have been thinking on it and then realized what happened last Sunday and thought this would be a good story for them.

So yeah if you guys didn't know this I was a pretty hyper crazy little kid the best way to describe me would be "Makulit" you guys don't know what that means because its Tagalog and doesn't really have an English equivalent but lets just say it means like: stubborn and hyper and loud kinda.  But then again not really honestly no real English for it but yeah that was me and I know i gave my parents headaches a lot.

Probably but to make them feel better right now I'd like to tell you guys how I gained a testimony of karma.

So last Sunday I committed 3 different part member families to come to church and was 100% expecting they would all come because after a year of having people promise to come to church and still not come I still always expect them to come.

Anywho so I went to their house at like 9 am (our church is at 1) to remind them to come to church they are like "Ok yeah we promise Elder Roberts we will come!" Ok cool so I go to other investigators for a few hours and then come back around 12:15 to pick them up to go to church and only the 3 families kids are ready the parents hiding, telling their kids to tell me they are not there (the whole "Wala daw po siya" which means she said that she isn't here is just... 😐) or just waking up,  (which my mom should already be noticing the karma right now yeah don't worry it gets better!)

Anywho so what happened is the parent of these 3 families are all like take my kids to church! (the parents are all less active members who I have been trying to reactivate by teaching their kids who have not yet been baptized)

Anywho so it ends up I take this flipping herd of kids to church (8 in total 😑 coincidence? I think not)

Also P.S. I don't really have a companion I've got a member who is working with me but he's not the one who usually visits them so they aren't super huge fans of him. So yeah I'm basically just trying to get 8 kids to church safely in the Philippines and all these kids are just like whack jobs the thing about Filipino kids is I'm pretty sure their parents just give them crack like everyday because there is no other plausible reason they are this crazy.

But the kids I was walking to church are even more hyper than normal so after herding these little nut jobs down Filipino streets continually counting realizing I'm missing one. Stopping the herd finding my lil' lost sheep returning him to the herd and walking again I finally got them all to church. WHEW

I thought my troubles were over. Yeah well I learned getting kids to church is just half the battle. The rest is waged in keeping them from losing their little minds in sacrament. Sadly I was not adequately prepared for this battle but I used all the resources I had been given and let them draw in my planner.  Which yeah now it's covered in little kid drawings and some of my own because they loved watching me draw.
They think I'm really good for some reason also thank goodness I always have the artwork of the church picture book (usually just to help me tell the story of the tree of life) but they loved looking at all the pictures. They were also playing with like literally everything I own including my keys, extra name tag I keep in my pack. The different lesson pamphlets and everything else

Aywho I finally made it through sacrament got them all of to primary.  Phew I made it! Nnoooope! as I'm sitting in gospel principles class with my two adult investigators and a few recent converts, I suddenly see a little head pop up in the window of the door.  "Oh no... please just be my imagination down let that little face come back in that wind..  oop theres another one.  So I do the gesture of "Hey! Stop go to class!" Praying this doesn't disturb gospel principles which was dumb because they didn't understand what I meant.  So now they are all crowding the door trying to all look through the window at the same time (there is three of them) trying to see what I'm trying to communicate to them eventually my prayer is answered by their sister coming out and probably saying the equivalent of "Hey Elder said to be good and stay in class!" so they all went to class.

And you know what? At the end of church I only got a few complaints from the other kids in primary about how hyper the kids were but its OK the primary teacher is awesome and was super nice and patient with them and they wanna come again!! Success!

I just really emphasized the whole bring your parents thing to them Anywho I love you guys thanks for all the support and everything you guys do for me!

Hopefully this makes you guys feel a little better
